Meeting Basic Needs
THE NEEDS OF A WIFE
1Pet 3:7-10 “In the same way, you husbands must give honour to your wives. Treat your wife with understanding as you live together. She may be weaker than you are, but she is your equal partner in God’s gift of new life. Treat her as you should so your prayers will not be hindered. Finally all of you should be of one mind. Sympathize with each other. Love each other as brothers and sisters. Be tenderhearted, and keep a humble attitude. Don’t repay evil for evil. Don’t retaliate with insults when people insult you. Instead pay them back with a blessing. That is what God has called you to do, and he will grant you his blessing. For the scriptures say, “if you want to enjoy life and see many happy days, keep your tongue from speaking evil and your lips from telling lies.
Eph 5:22-33 “ For wives this means submit to your husbands as to the Lord. For a husband is the head of his wife as Christ is the head of the church. He is the Savior of his body, the Church. As the Church submits to Christ, so you wives should submit to your husbands in everything. For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the Church. He gave up his life for her to make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of God’s word. He did this to present her to himself as a glorious church without a spot or wrinkle or any other blemish. Instead, she will be holy and without fault. In the same way, husbands ought to love their wives as they love their own bodies. For a man who loves his wife actually shows love for himself. No one hates his own body but feeds and cares for it, just as Christ cares for the church. And we are members of his body. As the scriptures say, “A man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one”. This is great mystery, but it is an illustration of the way Christ and the Church are one. So again I say, each man must love wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband. { What is love? 1Corinthians 13:3-7 Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoice whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.}
She needs you to understand her.
She needs you to be tender and considerate.
She needs to be treated with respect.
She needs to protected because she is the weaker vessel.
She needs to be treated as a partner in the marriage and as a joint heir with you in the kingdom.
She needs you to build her with your speech by praise and appreciation and not be harsh with her (Colossians 3:19)
She needs you to love her and for you to sacrificially and unselfishly give yourself for her.
She needs you to nourish her spiritually by the word of God.
She needs you to be the spiritual head of the household.
She needs you to cherish and value her.
THE NEEDS OF A HUSBAND
He needs a wife who will submit to him
He needs a wife who does not nag him with her words.
He needs a wife who is pure and holy, one whom he can trust.
He needs a wife who develops her beauty outwardly and inwardly, who has a peaceful and gentle spirit.
He needs a wife who will respect him as this gives him confidence to lead.
He needs a wife who will speak life and encouragement to him spiritually.
He needs a wife who will give herself to him in sexual union.
